It's apples and oranges. The economy is much different than the twenties or thirties. Not to mention the unbelievable growth and interconnectedness of the global economy in the last few decades. It's not just us we're bailing out. It's for the good of the world.

Either way, I think the business principle of "you have to spend money to make money" applies well with the bailout. Even if it goes against capitalistic ideals, so be it.
